I wanted to make a quick post for those that do not follow the Brown Eyes Facebook page.

I've been fitting the most annoying cold for a week and a half and turns out that I have Bronchitis. So I apologize for the calls I haven't answered or returned, but I don't think that coughing in your ears would be very polite! Hopefully I'm good as new on Monday and can return those calls!

Kelly & Nick - Rock Cut State Park

I met Kelly's family a few years ago when her sister, Shannon, was married in 2009. Man, that seems like forever ago. Well, now it's Kelly and Nick's turn to tie the knot and strut their stuff. Engagement sessions are always a good practice round for getting used to the camera, seeing how I work, and getting those shy jitters out of the way. Thanks for being a good sport, Nick!

Rock Cut State Park was gorgeous. The day was warm and overcast. Simply perfect.

I wish I could show you their ADORABLE save the date pictures, but I don't want to spoil the surprise. Instead, here's a shot of their little guy. Everyone together now: "Awwwwww!"

Kelly & Chuck were married back in October at the Raddison Hotel. The theme was a bit Hollywood Glam with a stunning reception hall complete with a pink candy bar and red carpet photo booth. It's so fun to see how every wedding is creative and unique. Kelly's mom had a big part in the sneaky prop planning - love it!

I get asked this question a lot.
I'm so glad the days of kacky pants and white shirts are behind us. Don't get me wrong, those colors look nice on a beach. But this is Rockford, people. The Midwest. We don't have the luxury of sandy white beaches, clear blue skies, the salty wind in our hair. Ok, I'm jealous of photographers near beaches. Rant over.

I suggest picking 4-5 colors and working around those. Same goes for wedding planning. Why stick to 2 colors? There is so much creative inspiration on the web these days. Hello, Pintrest. The possibilities are endless.

Lindsay & Steve - Bull Valley Golf Club

Blogging doesn't come easy to me. How do you fit 6-8 hours of the best day of a bride and groom's life into just a few words and pictures? It's tough to choose!

I met this great couple a few months ago when we had scheduled their engagement session at the NIU Campus. We spent over an hour together walking, chatting, and capturing some great images. I love getting to know a couple before the wedding... not only does it help settle nerves, but it also helps me learn their style... or if the groom-to-be is a blinker or if the bride gets caught up in giggle fits. :)

Lindsay and Steve were married on September 17th at the beautiful Bull Valley Golf Club.
It was a perfect day.

This first shot is by my assistant, Dennis Madsen. I love the perspective. I think Steve approves of his bride. :)

Rob and Trish booked me pretty last minute for their intimate park wedding on August 12th. They were married with their son at their side, with close family and friends. Rob is also a photographer (talk about pressure!).

After the short ceremony, we took a little hike around the park...

Megan, Jeff and I got off to a funny start. We had agreed to meet half way at a Starbucks in Belvidere, IL. Well after driving around for 15 minutes, we realize that the Starbucks we had found on Google maps was in the oasis. What a mess! Oh well... it all worked out!

The wedding day was beautiful. Warm, which was expected, but the gardens have so many great shady areas that we were comfortable. The ceremony was intimate, followed by a BLAST of a reception. I mean, who has a chicken costume for the kid's chicken dance?! These guys.

Finally. The very much past due blog post featuring my 2nd assistant, Miss Charli (sorry, Charli)! It has been a delight to have Charli along side me for several weddings this season. I sound like a British grandma "She is such a delight!"; but it's the right word. At only 16 years old, this girl is workin' it and doing her thing!

What is the one thing everyone should know about you:
I love Jesus! He's the only One that could have brought me to where I am!
I love food... don't be shocked if you see me whip out something from my purse or randomly snacking. I might even take a picture of anything food-related. I even have granola bars in my camera bag! And I adore photography. It's my passion. Lastly, I love music so much that if I don't have it, I get grumpy.

{Charli, I said ONE thing. I suppose I wouldn't expect anything less from this chatty girl!}

How long have you been doing photography and how did you get started?
I've been toying around with cameras since I was little. My first recollection was one day when I was 5-6 years old, I took our film 35 mm out to the front yard and snapped a pic of our house, and then another of our dog. My mom didn't know I did it until she got the roll developed! When I first got serious about photography, I was a pre-teen, and kind of awkward and insecure. I felt like a loser at times, like we all do. But, strangely, behind the camera, I was at home and confident! I started playing more and more with our little Kodak point & shoot, and eventually abused Google every evening for information. Before long, I showed my pictures to others, and even entered them into the Boone County Fair because I couldn't contain the excitement. Above all, God has given me the opportunities to get to where I am now. To God be the glory.

When you take pictures just for you, what are they of?
Umm, everything. The majority of my "best" work is done outdoors... I don't know why. In the summer, I like to grab my camera and roam around our property, the surrounding fields, and our gravel road. It's good peace and quiet for me. I also sometimes stalk my little sister or brothers in the yard. But mainly, I photograph whatever I find beautiful or interesting, or both! Food and portraits seem to be my main interest. I love when I get asked to photograph family reunions and birthday parties, etc. I practice portrait "techniques" on myself. I know some scoff at self-portraits, but it helps me figure out what looks good and what doesn't BEFORE I do it to someone else. It even helps me develop my style!

Do you have a hidden talent or a stupid human trick?
I'm rather flexible. I can do the splits (not side-to-side splits), a back-bend, and some other little stretches. Oh, and I like to arm wrestle! But I don't like losing. :)

Anna and David were married on June 25th at Galena United Methodist Church. I love old churches like this one... decorating isn't even necessary.

Anna's shoes were her "something blue" and they were oh so adorable.

Despite a little rain, we had a little time to walk downtown Galena. I love the feel of this town. So quaint and picturesque.

One thing I don't remember about my wedding day is the weather. It was January, so I know it was cold... but the day flies by and you forget. This view is from the deck at the Galena Territory Owner's Club. Picture Perfect.

Forget the first dance. These guys were the craziest most fun dancers. EVER. Work it, David!

Northern Illinois University Engagement Session - Brown Eyes Photography

Lindsay and Steve met at Barsema Hall on the NIU campus so it was the perfect place to shoot some engagement pictures before their wedding this September. I had never done a session at NIU and was thrilled with all the great little photo spots. We had beautiful weather and the campus practically to ourselves. The lighting was simply perfect...

Every year, they come to this lagoon to have a picnic and reminisce. How cute is that?

And you guys claimed to not be photogenic. I don't believe it for a second!

Breann & Luke - White Pines Wedding Canyon

Remember these guys from last fall?? Well their wedding day and has come and gone, and let me tell you, it went out with a bang! I feel like a broken record talking about rain, but once again,... it rained. Luckily, White Pines Wedding Canyon has a stand-by tent that we were able to use, and by the time the ceremony was over, the rain had let up enough to use the awesome scenery.

Now THIS is a cake smash!

Apparently the cake incident didn't upset anyone, because this is one hot kiss!

I thought I'd show the variety of ring shots I did during this wedding. I usually try to incorporate part of the decor. In this case, it was the candy bar. Yum.

The reception was a blast... one where I felt like I wasn't actually working. And I kind of wanted to stay and crash it after we were done shooting ;)

Brittney & Randy - Rockford, IL Wedding Photographer

It was about a year ago that Brittney and Randy booked with me via the internet, without having ever met face to face. Our first meeting was a steamy engagement session (and I mean it was HOT outside). Since then, I was so excited to shoot their wedding. Maybe it's just me, but we clicked... and I kind of want to be b.f.f.'s with Brittney. Really, she's so sweet.

Fast forward (technically, we're rewinding now) to May 21. Another hot day, but perfect. This was my first time at Prince of Peace Lutheran in Freeport; I love when I can sneak around the side and get up-close shots.

After the ceremony, we were off to Krape Park...

I chose a little vintage editing here... vintage details were important to Brittney. LOVE.

I met Amber probably two years ago (or more?) when doing a photo shoot for Cutie Patootie, a local boutique bow shop. Her daughter was a model and she sure fit the bill. Gorgeous.. just like her momma.
The May 14th ceremony was held at Riverside Community Church in Machesney Park. Despite another rainy day, it was a beautiful wedding.

If you are looking for a church with lots of great light, this church has it. LOVE.

Those of you who have liked the Brown Eyes Photography Facebook page or have seen us in action have probably noticed that I have a few new faces with me this season! This is the first of two blog posts featuring those new faces, Dennis and Charli.

Without further ado, meet Dennis Madsen, BEP's 2011 Assistant Photographer!

What's one thing that everyone should know about you?

I'm from Denmark NOT from Ireland even though I have red hair and funky accent. People always seem to think I'm from Ireland. And yes, I love wedding cake and will eat it at any chance I get!

How long have you been doing photography and how did you get started?

I started doing photography in 8th grade with dark rooms, rolls of film all over, smelly chemicals and everything we did was in black and white. Had a break from creative photography for some 10 years and picked it up again when buying my first DSLR in 2008. And since then, that thing has been pretty much stuck to my face.

When you take pictures just for you, what are they of?
We love to travel and go to Europe at least once a year and always come home with way too many photos. I photograph pretty much everything, but mainly travels, family, friends, events, nice scenery etc. I never go anywhere without my camera.... except grocery shopping.....

Do you have a hidden talent or a stupid human trick?
I can ride a unicycle.. was once really good and rode off road, over ramps and all over town. Today it's probably best to just keep to flat surfaces and aim straight ahead :) Also I can walk on stilts, those attached to the feet and hands free. Apparently I'm born in a circus.

If you could meet anyone (dead or alive) who would you pick and why?
Probably Steve Carell.. He could make any situation hilarious. Big fan of The Office!! Otherwise it would be the Crown Prince of Denmark (Frederik).. because he's just bada$$!

I have really enjoyed Dennis working along side me this season. He does amazing work. I hope that you have enjoyed his blog feature; leave him some comment love!

Dayna & Jacob - Rockford, IL Photographer

Ok guys, I am really, really behind on blogging. In an attempt to redeem myself, I have a ton of photos to share with you from Dayna and Jacob's wedding on March 19 (See! I wasn't kidding. And here you thought I wasn't doing anything...)

We started out at the salon where the girls got gorgeous, then headed to Midway Village to meet up with the guys. I love that Dayna and Jacob saw each other before the ceremony; it gave us a ton of time for pictures.

Kellie & Chuck at Coronado Theatre - Rockford IL Photographer

You know those events that are so exciting that don't know how to describe it? Today, I had one of those and I want to share it with you!

Kellie, Chuck and I had planned on an outdoor engagement session for today, but 14 inches of snow had us searching for other ideas. I suggested Coronado Theatre and they loved the idea. I had a tall order on my hands but was thrilled to be shooting at Coronado! I got to the Theatre a bit early to wander and get my ideas... man, that place is gorgeous. Having the entire Theatre to ourselves was amazing. There's no other word for it! Just amazing.

Okay, enough gushing about the location... Meet my October 22 wedding couple: Kellie and Chuck! I could hang out with them all day... such an easy going, fun couple.

I met Matt and his mom in early 2009 to shoot his senior session (my first guy senior, in fact!). It was so fun to see him again, this time on his wedding day, and to meet his bride, Jean. The ceremony was short and sweet, followed by a brunch reception at Evangelical Free Church in Mount Morris.

Colleen & Tim were married on October 9th in Dekalb. I love this little park... the gazebo is so cute and the park has some great areas to shoot.

Pay attention to the below collage and you'll get a good laugh. Your eyes are not deceiving you... that is definitely a cowboy and Indian. From what I gather, it's a family tradition. What a great group of people! Oh, and Tim IS throwing the whole bowl in Colleen's face; forget feeding each other the tiny piece - this was an all out food fight!

Breann won a free session through one of my Blog/Facebook give-aways a while back! She and Luke live in California, were he serves in the military (Thank you, Luke!). They are in town for the holidays so we got together for a quick engagement session. I had a major blond moment and forgot all about it, but I flew downtown and everything turned out great.

Lizzy & Eric - Olbrich Gardens, Madison WI

You know how you start to feel when winter is just around the corner? Nice days become fewer and you try to spend every chance you can outside.... knowing that the next five months will be spent in gray slush and your car will be covered in salt. At least that is how I'm starting to feel. It's showing in my photography as well. I can't bare to make a beautiful fall picture into a black and white. I. just. can't! The colors are so warm and I want to hold on to that as long as I can.
Enough blabbering.
Meet Lizzy and Eric. I met Liz at her brother's wedding over a year ago, and now it's Liz's turn to make it official! We met at the Olbrich Gardens in Madison and had a nice afternoon walking around the gardens. Turns out Eric is quite the romantic.... proposing on a bridge in Europe, taking dance lessons. You found a good one, Liz!

Shannon & TIm - Edward's Apple Orchard

I love when bride's choose fun, different locations for their engagement pictures. It was a windy day at Edward's Apple Orchard, not too busy, and just perfect. I had a few extra nerves since Tim is an artist as well, but I'm confident there are some really CUTE (wink) shots.

Hello blue eyes!!

Anna & David met with me back in June looking for a photographer. Well, they must have liked me, cause here we are, 4 months later! We met in downtown Rockford this past weekend for an engagement session. This is one of my favorite locations... so many options from urban to scenic... and the trees were a beautiful orange. I think David may have even mentioned how much fun he was having.

Kate & Mark - Anderson Garden's Wedding Photographer

Every wedding I have ever had booked at Anderson Gardens has been rained out and moved indoors.... Kate and Mark broke the curse. Although we had a few sprinkles, the day cleared up and turned into the perfect wedding day.

Kate was the perfect vintage bride! We were able to spend some time before the ceremony doing some portraits and hanging out with her girls. So much fun.

After the ceremony and family portraits, we wandered the gardens with the bridal party.

{Grandma's Coffee Apple Cake}

This is one of those random personal posts. I LOVE this cake and haven't made it for a few years. I thought it was time to share it with you all. You've gotta try it!

1 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup cold coffee
1 1/2 cup flour
2 cups raw apples
a pinch of salt

Mix sugar, egg, and butter. Add coffee. Add dry ingredients. Stir in apples.
Pour into a 13x9 pan and bake for 30 minutes on 350 degrees.

Frosting:
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup soft butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
about 2 T milk
Mix until smooth. Frost cake when cooled.

Cori & Ryan - Elburn, IL Photographer

Sometimes I wish I had a video camera to take along with me to weddings. I wish that you could see Cori's sweet spirit. I really enjoyed hanging out with the girls while they got ready, touched up makeup, hugged, laughed. The room was full of excitement.

Heritage Prairie Farm was the perfect location for this garden style wedding. Lanterns, lanterns, and more lanterns. I'm crazy about them! The ceremony was an intimate gathering under the trees. So romantic.

Cori had requested a shot of the girls all laying around; I love how it turned out.

A few quick minutes away from the guests led us to the other side of the farm. I always do several kissy-face poses. Come to find out, these two are not fans of PDA. You'd never know... kissing or not, they exchange looks that will make your heart melt.

Blue mason jars. So simple. So gorgeous.

Well guys, I'm back and it is so SAD! The Bahamas were amazing and the break was just what I needed to re-energize for the rest of the wedding season. It was also a celebration trip, as it was my hubby's 26th birthday and I was also released from therapy {finally, right?!}.

I met Jill at a wedding reception in July...we were sitting at the same table for dinner... little did I know that I'd be taking pictures for her a few months later. This passed Friday, I met her son Jared for some teen pictures. Jared is 16 and has a cool style and loves guitars. I had a lot of fun hanging out with them!

She grew up on a farm. He's from the Chicago suburbs. They fell in love...

I'm not used to being on a farm, but it is so much fun... tons of cool places for photos. This is no random farm however. Brittney grew up here... an old farm out in the middle of nowhere. I think that makes it extra cool.

The sunset finally cooperated and we were blessed with some gorgeous light.

I love the series of porch shots. There's something so quaint and romantic about them. I had to include a close up of Brittney - she's gorgeous.

... Yes, they are definitely in love. And in May 2011 they will be getting married so you will be seeing these faces again.

Ashley & Jared - Janesville, WI Wedding Photographer

I look forward to all my weddings, but this one was exciting because I had never shot a wedding at the Rotary Gardens. It was breathtaking. August 7th was a h.o.t. day but so much fun.

I loved this archway. I would have taken a hundred photos right here if we would have had time. Do I even need to say anything about how stunning Ashley is?

Oh, you want a closer look? See? STUNNING.

The fun ( and HUGE) wedding party! They were pros at fun, natural posing.

We had planned to take some time out of the reception at William's Tree Farm to do a bunch of photos around the grounds, but the mosquitos had a different plan for us. I've never seen swarms of mosquitos that bad! We held out for about 5 minutes before heading back inside. Such a disappointment!

Have you ever seen anything like this? I mean, really, have you? I've been doing weddings for years and have seen some pretty elaborate dessert tables, but this one takes the cake (haha, I'm so lame). Mad props to Bonnie's Catering out of Roscoe, IL. WOW.

Dennis & Kristin - Midway Village Wedding Photography

Kristin and Dennis may look familiar to you. We did their engagement session a few months ago, and on July 19th they tied the knot (yes, Im late on blogging AGAIN). Every wedding is unique and I love that. Dennis and his family are from Denmark, where Kristin and Dennis met, and the wedding was full of tradition. So much fun, heart warming, silly tradition.This was my second wedding at Midway Village. The ceremony was held across the pond under the willow trees. Just gorgeous.

It was really hard for me to decide what pictures to blog. This candid one of Kristin jumped out at me.

And I love this church in the Village

These reception shots are not typical of what I normally blog, but they tell so much about the evening... and I feel like I should explain some, but I don't even know what to say!! It was the first reception where we were mooned (Dennis, I TOLD you I got the shot!), where all the boys ran up to kiss Kristin when Dennis left the room and vice versa, where the speeches were given in both English and Danish, and where I teared up. Truly teared up in awe of these two.

Dennis is unbelievable. UN.BE.LIEV.A.BLE. The sweetest, most loving, genuine guy. I loved his speech to Kristin, how he talked about her crazy curly hair and he how doesn't care when its frizzy, puffy, and all over the place... the curlier the better. How cute is that?!?

Another tradition: A first dance waltz, followed by capturing the groom and cutting off the toes of his socks! These guys are nuts! I have a ton of dancing shots and can not wait to show you guys. The Conga line was a riot!

Wedding season is crazy, but as I edit these shots I'm reminded of why I do this. I'm beyond lucky to be a small part of people's lives, to see and share in the love and support they have. I'm reminded that the long weekends of surviving the heat, carrying equipment and staying up late are very, very worth it.
Kristin and Dennis, you are both amazing. Congrats again!

{Lists}

I've been mad busy, so no time for a Thursday picture. Instead, here's a few things I love:

Lists. Really. I don't know if I love them, but I'm slightly obsessed. I make lists for everything... groceries, personal and work to-dos, items for the closet, my projects for the week. My hard drive is clogged with on-going lists.

Fossil blog

Fairs. All the county fairs arrive in August and I can smell the Elephant Ears, steak Kabobs and Cheese Curds a mile away. Growing up, our family always went for dad's birthday. I loved going and still do. However, I skip the rides now.

Andrew Bannecker

September. It's going to be a HUGE month. HUGE. A trip to the Bahamas with hubby and friends that has been planned for.ev.er. A photographers convention in Chicago, weddings of course, visiting a friend in the Davenport, IA area, and hopefully my niece will be born at the end of the month. ((Squeal!))

And lastly, Friday. Cause who doesn't love Friday? Have a great weekend friends!

Whitney - Rockford, IL Senior Photography

Last year while vacationing with family in the Ozarks, I shot my 2nd cousin Alicia's senior pictures. This year, it was sister Whitney's turn. I felt bad as I was a little hung over from muscle relaxors (more on that later), but I figured I'd wing it; Alicia was a great pose coach and we got a lot of fabulous pictures. It was at least 90 degrees and SO humid, but Whitney rocked the session. Don't you agree?

It was quite the feet getting into this boat.. spiders, crawling through bars, nearly tipping over, "borrowing" a poor kids towel. It was all worth it though. This is one of the many, many shots. There's something peaceful about it that I love.

Last year, I took a few pictures of sister in this window, but this year we got brave and actually went inside the abandoned house...

... and oh how awesome it was!

I know I'm going to have seniors asking where these were taken. Unfortunately it is a long, long drive away. I wish I could find something similar in Rockford!

On a different note, please continue to pray for a full recovery from the car accident I was in on May 16. My husband and I drove 8+ hours on Tuesday then back home again on Thursday. Car rides are extremely hard on me. I am still seeing a doctor 2-3 times a week and am getting discouraged. I know it takes time, but it's so hard to not be my normal active self. Thank you to all of you that have been so gracious with working around my crazy schedule and for the thoughtful emails.

I'm excited to be shooting next to Kathleen of Kathleen's Photography this weekend at Anderson Gardens. I interned with Kathleen for a few years before branching out with my own business. It will be so good to see her again and I always love shooting at the Gardens.

Michelle & Abe - Rockford, IL Wedding Photographer

Saturday, I met Michelle & Abe at St. Bridget's for their mid afternoon wedding. What a cool church. I had never been inside and had no idea the ceiling was so artsy! Both my assistant and I commented on how we loved the ceremony. The minister was so interactive and genuine with Michelle and Abe. It was really nice.

After the ceremony, we had a little break and then met up at Cliffbreakers for pictures and a delicious dinner.

I showed this picture to Michelle after I took it. "Show Abe!" Yup, we all agreed. Michelle looked beautiful!

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I love purple!
And I must give a shout out to Jeti Entertainment. They sure knew how to keep the dance floor packed!

Courtney & Ryan - Milwaukee, WI Photography

I replied "Bride?!"

We had done all of the wedding day planning across states, over email. It's becoming more and more common for me to not meet my brides (especially since a lot of them are out of state) until the day of the wedding, and when we do meet, it is so nice!
My assistant and I drove up to Milwaukee Friday afternoon for a gorgeous wedding on the lake at the Milwaukee War Memorial. I had googled the location and knew it was going to be nothing short of awesome. Add in a stunning bride, the cutest bridesmaid dresses ever (EVER), and blue skies and well... it makes for a perfect wedding.

Did you think I was kidding??? Stunning.

We snuck around construction tape and barriers to get up to the museum bridge. I'd rather apologize to security than miss a cool location!

Ah, Kelly and Joseph... so many words, so little time. By the 10th frame, I knew I was in trouble. So much love and laughter... and sarcasm! Kelly is quite punchy and I LOVE it. Don't be fooled though, Joe holds his own rather well.
Such good chemistry these two have!
The storm clouds were rolling in so things were a little rushed, but I think the lighting turned out great. I stepped our of my comfort zone and turned off the flash. I like the results!

I'm into lists lately. Don't ask why... maybe it's my organization freak of nature self coming out.

1. Finally seeing the sunshine after what seems like weeks of rain. More rain is on it's way though which just means more cool storm pictures.

2. Book of Eli. Have you seen it? It's good. Really good. I think it will make for a nice Father's Day gift.

3. Speaking of Fathers and things I love.... Dad. I have strict orders that I am not allowed to post photos of him. Mainly because they are terribly goofy, but trust me, he's pretty awesome... ok, maybe just one picture.

I went through 3 different testers of gray paint; it's a tricky color but I LOVE it. Still work to do on the decor side, but the hardest part is done! Thanks mom!

Amber & Daniel had a lovely ceremony at Windsor Church.... I always love some stain glass windows.

The reception was intimate, surrounded by good friends, lots of family, and yummy sandwiches.... and By the Dozen always makes an amazing cake....

BUT they ROCKED the portraits! I couldn't decide what to share, so I picked a few favorites from our time at Belvidere Park.

By the way, it started pouring 30 seconds after we got back to the car to head to the reception. Talk about good timing!

Tina & Jeff - New Berlin, WI Photography

Tina & Jeff were married a few weeks ago on the grounds of the New Berlin Hills Golf Club. The weather couldn't have been any better. Tina told me that their goal was to be my most fun bride and groom in 2010. I think they set the bar pretty high!
So many great laughing and kissy-face pictures!

I probably have at least 10 shots with "the point".... I'm not sure what it was about, but everyone loved to do it!

I loved the color coordinated candy bar and the cake was DIVINE. I am going to gain weight with all this delicious cake.

The club had a photo similar to this that Tina loved so we recreated it. I think it's fabulous!

Congrats again, Tina & Jeff! I hope that you had a blast in Europe!

{Random updates and other nonsense}

Car Accident. Recovery is not going as quickly as I'd hoped. Saturday night into Sunday morning brought an unexpected set back but after yet another round of dr visits I am doing better today. Being in a rolling car really takes a toll on all parts of your life. Man I wish I could enjoy these nice summer days on my Fisher bike. Soon.

True Blood. I have been spending hours on the couch/floor. Anyone that knows me knows that I am always active (Self diagnoses ADHD!). I've made the best out of it though and caught up on Season 2 of True Blood. Not as good as Season 1 but still love it. Season 3 starts in a few weeks. Guilty Pleasure.

Book Ends. I can't pass up a deal on a pretty looking book. I have way too many and I need some cute bookends to hold them up.

Paint. My living room walls have 4 shades of gray paint samples all over them. I have decided that the perfect shade of gray is impossible to find.

Facebook. The fan page is almost up to 200! Join now for a special coming in June. Trash the Dress anyone????

Emily & Nicholas - Rockford IL Wedding Photographer

I met Emily and Nicholas back in August 2009 for their Engagement session. We had a lot of fun walking around downtown Crystal Lake.

Fast forward to May 22, 2010... their wedding day and one of the hottest days so far this year. I mean, HOT. We started pictures at Emily's parents home for some getting ready shots then headed to First United Methodist Church for the ceremony.

The gorgeous bride!

Nicholas is in the Air Force and some of their buddy's surprised us with a cool presentation as they exited the church, complete with a sword.

It's official!

The reception was held at Bull Valley Country Club and was decorated to perfection... The cake was just as tasty as it was beautiful.

Even at 7pm it was still 80+ degrees. Shade was hard to find, but we worked around it. Here are a few of my favorites...

Congratulations! I hope you are enjoying your surprise honeymoon!

Our dog, Litzie, showed up on our deck at 6:30 this morning!
We took her to the vet; she had glass in her stomach and some minor scrapes but otherwise is safe and sound. Couldn't be happier!

Sunday - Rockford IL Photographer

Today started as any other Sunday.
A great church service, grilling out with friends. On my way home around 4:30 pm, I was t-boned by an elder lady just 3 blocks from our house. Witnesses say that my car rolled twice before skidding to a stop upside down. As always, I had my seat belt on and managed to crawl out of the car. My first thought went to my Yorkiepoo that was in the car with me. She survived the crash but ran away when people started running towards the accident.
I was transported to the hospital via ambulance and released an hour later with only glass cuts on my hands and knees and a very sore back.

Unfortunately, Litzie my dog is still missing. We searched for 5 hours, until it was too dark. She is microchipped and tagged, so we are praying she is returned safely to us.

Thank you all for the prayers; I know most people aren't fortunate enough to just crawl out of their car like I did.

Just a quick shot from Kristin and Dennis' session last week at Rock Cut. So much fun hiking and talking. I am really looking forward to their wedding!

Things here are a bit hectic, but I promise to add more as I finish up editing.

Tomorrow my hubby and I are heading to Wrigley Field with a great group of friends to see our Cubs play. I've been to several games, but this will be my first bleachers experience! Hoping that the rain holds out... Yikes.

I'll be back in a day or two, hopefully with some baseball pictures!

Kayla and her mom met me for a senior session this past week. We had a fun time doing a little studio shoot, then headed out to Rock Cut State Park. It was a very sunny hot day so I put mom to work holding my reflector and made them hike all over the place.

Storyboards - Rockford, IL Photographer

Storyboards are a fun way to showcase a whole group of images, rather than just a few. Here, I've taken 16 shots and put them together for an 11x14 frame with a few accent color blocks.

Adding names, dates, patterns or color are great ways to express yourself and make a great memory. Storyboards don't have to be 16, 10 or even 6 images. A simple layout with 3 sequence shots may fit your images better. The possibilities are endless!
